I see that you have 'Run As -> Scala Application' available in the context menu for DesktopMain.scala. So it looks like you have Scala IDE installed correctly.

Did you do this step (mentioned in the 'start hacking' instructions on the kojolite project page):
Eclipse Notes: You need to tweak the Eclipse project generated by sbt. Remove the Scala Library and Compiler containers, and manually add the Scala library and compiler jars to the project build path libraries.

Also, can you build the project without errors from within Eclipse? You will need to have java 6 on the project build path to be able to do so (there's one location in the Kojo source tree that does not compile with java 7).

And is there a way of launching kojo from the terminal

./sbt.sh run should do that for you.

Does project in the instruction 'You need to tweak the Eclipse project generated by sbt' mean kojolite/project or kojolite/ ? Which directory does the 'Scala Library ' above refer to ? Is it kojolite/project/target/scala-2.9.2 or any other directory ? And do I have to manually copy paste the same directory again in that folder ?By Compiler containers , I see only 1 file 'copy-resources' in 'kojolite/project/target/scala-2.9.2/sbt-0.12/cache/default-e3221d/compile/' . Again , do I have to remove it and then re-add it there itself ? I am a bit confused about how to tweak the eclipse project as given . Need your help in this regard.

Just thought this might help to explain my problem better :'apt-cache policy scala-library' gives me :

'scala -version' gives :

You seem to have the correct scala version (2.10.1) installed. In any case, sbt will download (into its local cache) another copy of the correct scala version for you, and use it for compiling/running.

Try this:

For building:
./sbt.sh clean package

For running (this should also automatically do a build):
./sbt.sh run

Let me know how that goes.

It means the Eclipse Project generated by sbt, for which the build path is defined in a file called .classpath. But you don't need to directly edit classpath. You can right-click on the project in Eclipse, bring up 'Properties', go to 'Java Build Path', and then go to 'Libraries'. Here you can 'remove the Scala Library and Compiler containers, and manually add the Scala library and compiler jars'.

Thank you so much :-) . './sbt.sh run' launches kojo properly and as you say it automatically does a build , after making my changes to the source code , I should issue the same command to see my changes. Is that right ?

When you issue the run command, any changes you have made will get compiled and packaged, and then Kojo will run with your changes.

Were you able to get Kojo to run from within Eclipse?

Yes , I am able to launch Kojo from eclipse itself, thanks to the guidance provided :-) . Now I'm working on changing the source code to better understand the complete working of Kojo.
